On the first day, November 30, 2021, the performance "Hearing the Sunrise," a cooperation with media artist, programmer and researcher Qianxun Chen took place. As Huiquan performed, Qianxun provided an ambient listening experience by using multiple Soniplasts on plants, a device that translates biodata from plants into audio.
As a part of her solo exhibition of abstract paintings, SomoS Artist in Residence Huiquan Jiang along with Qianxun Chen shared an ambient listening experience of plants by using devices that translate biodata from plants into audio. While the paintings presented in "Sun Rises" with their vibrant glowing colors and abundant use of gold and yellow colors aim to provide a positive spiritual vibe, the sound and movement of the "Hearing the Sunrise" performance gave a synesthetic interpretation of this gentle state of mind.
